My aunt passed before the age of 40 due to cervical cancer. She never got to see her children grow up. I only know her through photographs. As a teen, I was encouraged to get the #HPVvaccine, and I did! I am immunocompromised, which means it’s important for me to get cancer screenings and it’s the reason I must stay vigilant! This is why I am advocating for Pap and HPV co-testing as opposed to just a regular Pap. According to a 2018 study done on enhanced detection of cervical cancer, screening with the Pap and HPV co-test identified 70% of the cancers missed by HPV alone. Timing is everything in life. Every two hours, someone dies of cervical cancer.
