“Did you know that Hispanic women are 30% more likely to die from cervical cancer, compared to white women? This is due to both the lack of access to vital testing and the lack of awareness of the tests. The Pap+HPV co-test in particular has caught 94.1% of cervical cancers and 99.7% of cervical pre-cancers and has successfully identified 70% of cancers that were missed by the HPV test alone. As a Latina myself, it’s imperative that all women, including Latinas, have access to life-saving testing for HPV and cervical cancer. I encourage all women, especially Latinas, to take part in this important testing.”

Concerns of Cervical Cancer as a Hispanic Woman
Like many other areas of healthcare, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer are susceptible to racial disparities. Hispanic women are 30% more likely to die from cervical cancer compared to white women. To combat this, all individuals with cervixes, especially those who identify as Hispanic must have access to the life-saving Pap + HPV co-test.
